Formally known as Aroostook Junction, at the confluence of the Aroostook River and the St. John River, the village became a major railway junction in 1876 for the New Brunswick Railway Company and the Aroostook Valley Railway into the state of Maine. Canoeing the rivers, stroll the trails and golfing nearby provide a relaxing visit in Aroostook.
Walk the Trans Canada Trail...across the Aroostook River over a converted curved railway bridge. Further down the trail, catch a glimpse of a once-booming railway town as remnants of an abandoned heritage-protected railway station, and a seven-bay round-house are visible reminders of an industry that employed most people in the community.
